Winnie Harlow: Prince William and supermodel Winnie Harlow spent a meaningful and fun day by the sea in South Africa celebrating the Earthshot Prize’s environmental solutions. William’s last day in South Africa was spent at a Kalk Bay Harbor “braai,” or seaside barbecue.
Prince William hosted a braai to support local communities and sustainable fishing. He hosted Harlow, Heidi Klum, and Tobe Nwigwe. The group learned about Abalobi, a nonprofit that supports local fishing communities through sustainable fishing, and enjoyed traditional South African food.
Harlow and other guests enjoyed the relaxed, friendly atmosphere as locals greeted the prince. William gratefully accepted handmade beaded gifts, saying, “Never go home empty-handed!”
Prince William’s South Africa trip was about meaningful conversations and partnerships, not just celebrations. Environmentshot Prize finalist Abalobi wants to improve small-scale fisherman’s conditions and educate the public about sustainable seafood. The local team demonstrated their catch-logging and tracking technology to improve fishing sustainability.
Winnie Harlow and other guests thanked the event for supporting local communities and ocean conservation. With her passion for environmental and social causes, Harlow energized the gathering.
Prince William attended the Earthshot Prize Awards in Cape Town the day before this gathering. His 2020 awards honor climate change activists and organizations.
Kalk Bay’s event celebrating the Earthshot Prize’s impact was fun and memorable for everyone. Through food, conversation, and community, William, Harlow, and others shared sustainable future hopes.
