In a surprising video, President-elect Trump praises FIFA’s Infantino at the Club World Cup draw, hinting at a strong relationship ahead

Washington: President-elect Donald Trump surprised many by appearing in a video message for the FIFA Club World Cup draw. His message highlighted his good relationship with FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
Infantino has faced criticism for his past comments and handling of human rights issues. Despite this, Trump expressed his support for Infantino and the upcoming tournament in his video.
During the message, Trump mentioned his daughter Ivanka, who was also at the event. He took credit for helping the USA secure the 2026 World Cup alongside Canada and Mexico.
Trump stated, “I will try and be there if I can. We’ll see what happens. But I just want to say you’re led by a man named Gianni. He’s a winner.” He emphasized their long-standing relationship and the growth of soccer in the U.S.
He continued, “I want to say my highest regards in respect to Gianni. It’s an honor to be with you and we’ll be watching the World Cup very soon.” Trump claimed he played a significant role in bringing the tournament to the U.S.
The draw included Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid as representatives from La Liga. The tournament is set to take place in the USA from June 14 to July 14, 2025, featuring 32 teams from around the world.
