Walsall FC’s Poundland Bescot Stadium will be the venue for the 2025 FA WNL Cup final.
Last season, Hashtag United won the FA WNL League Cup by defeating Newcastle United 2-1 at Kenilworth Road. This annual tournament includes 72 teams from the Women’s National Leagues. Notable past winners include well-known teams like Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
This weekend, two quarter-final matches are scheduled. Plymouth Argyle will play against Watford, while Hashtag United will face Real Bedford. The competition is heating up as teams aim to progress further.
The teams still in the running for the cup include Plymouth Argyle, Watford, Hashtag United, Real Bedford, Burnley, Stoke City, Middlesbrough, and Nottingham Forest. Half of these teams are currently among the top three in their leagues.
Sue Hough MBE, Chair of the FA WNL Board, expressed excitement about the competition. She noted that the league is becoming more competitive each year. Hough emphasized that the final is a significant event in the football calendar and thanked Walsall FC for their support.
Walsall FC’s stadium can hold 11,300 fans and will also host matches for Aston Villa’s women’s team. Ben Sadler, the CEO of Walsall FC, shared his thoughts on the growth of women’s football. He mentioned that hosting both their own women’s team and Aston Villa Women’s matches has led to record attendance and success.
