Virgil van Dijk has denied rumors linking him to a transfer to Real Madrid.
Despite his strong performance, there are questions about his future with Liverpool. His contract is set to end at the conclusion of the 2024/25 season. Talks are ongoing between Van Dijk’s team and the club about a new contract, but they have not yet reached an agreement.
When asked by reporters about the possibility of joining Real Madrid for free in 2025, Van Dijk said there was no news to share. He joked about whether Madrid even needs a defender since they have Antonio Rudiger. He emphasized that he is focused on the upcoming match against Manchester City and has no other comments about his future.
The discussions about his contract could continue into 2025. At that time, he would be able to talk to teams outside of England about a free transfer. However, Van Dijk has expressed a desire to remain with Liverpool. He enjoys playing for the club and wants to continue his career there.
