Vinicius Junior has settled a case involving a racist gesture from a young fan.
The incident took place in February at Vallecas. The person responsible for the gesture was a minor, and it was shocking that no one around him intervened. Earlier this year, a significant ruling led to three young men receiving prison sentences for racial abuse at a football match, marking a first in such cases.
According to reports, Vinicius has decided to settle the matter outside of court. The young offender has sent a written apology to Vinicius and agreed to complete 40 hours of educational work, which will be supervised by the public prosecutor. Additionally, the 16-year-old has been banned from attending La Liga matches for a year.
Vinicius has faced a lot of racial abuse over the past few years. Instead of staying silent, he has been vocal about the need for tougher penalties and a shift in how society addresses racism in sports. His determination to fight against this issue has made him a prominent figure in the conversation about racism in football.
