Viktor Gyökeres Attracts Interest from Major European Clubs

Reports say Paris Saint-Germain is keeping a close watch on Gyökeres. They plan to make a move for him in the summer of 2025. PSG’s sporting advisor, Luís Campos, has already reached out to the player’s agents.

Manchester United is also interested in Gyökeres. Their coach, Rúben Amorim, has worked with him before at Sporting. The Premier League team is eager to sign the striker.

Barcelona is also in the race, with plans to buy Gyökeres for about €70 million. They intend to loan him back to Sporting for another season after the transfer.

Recently, Sporting Lisbon lost 5-1 to Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League. This game led Rio Ferdinand to point out some weaknesses in Gyökeres. He shared his thoughts amid the rumors linking the player to Manchester United.

Ferdinand mentioned that Gyökeres struggled against strong central defenders. He said, “His strengths played into the strengths of the two central defenders he was up against.” He noted that in the Premier League, players often face tough defenders every week.

He added that Gyökeres only found some success when one of the defenders was substituted. Ferdinand questioned if Gyökeres could handle the physicality of the Premier League.

Ferdinand observed that Gyökeres has been effective in certain areas, but he needs to show more to succeed in England. He concluded that while Gyökeres has potential, more evidence is needed to prove he can thrive in the Premier League.
