Reports indicate that Spurs are keeping a close watch on Calvert-Lewin’s situation, as his contract with Everton is set to expire next summer. However, Everton may struggle to keep him, especially with interest from clubs like Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest, making the competition fierce.
Calvert-Lewin has been a significant player for Everton since joining from Sheffield United in 2016 for just £1.5 million. He has scored 70 goals and provided 19 assists in 260 matches across all competitions. His standout season was in 2020-21 when he netted 21 goals and earned the Player of the Year award at Everton.
Unfortunately, injuries have affected his performance in recent seasons. This year, he has managed only two goals and one assist in 13 Premier League games, which is not reflective of his true potential.
Despite these challenges, his experience in the Premier League is a valuable asset. With 226 appearances, 56 goals, and 15 assists, he remains an appealing option for Tottenham as they seek to enhance their attack.
Tottenham’s interest comes at a time when their own forwards are dealing with injuries. Calvert-Lewin’s ability to win headers and hold the ball could be a great addition alongside players like Dominic Solanke and Heung-min Son. He could also be a suitable replacement for Richarlison, who has struggled since moving from Everton and is rumored to be leaving Spurs.
A transfer to Tottenham could provide Calvert-Lewin with a fresh start and a chance to revive his career under Ange Postecoglou’s attacking style. His strength, goal-scoring ability, and experience in English football would make him a reliable option as Tottenham aims for success in both domestic and European competitions.
Any deal for Calvert-Lewin will depend on his fitness and whether Everton can offer him a new contract. Since he will be a free agent next summer, Tottenham could sign him at a good price, but they will face tough competition from other Premier League teams.
