Tottenham Hotspur and AS Roma played to a thrilling 2-2 draw in the Europa League.
Son Heung-min opened the scoring with a penalty kick just five minutes into the game. Brennan Johnson then scored another goal in the first half, giving Spurs a 2-1 lead at halftime.
The second half was filled with action. Johnson almost scored again, but his shot was cleared off the line. Other players like Pedro Porro, Dominik Solanke, and Dejan Kulusevski also had chances to add to the score.
However, in stoppage time, Mats Hummels, who had given away a penalty earlier, scored to level the match for Roma. This late goal meant that Spurs had to settle for a draw.
Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport praised Kulusevski for his performance, calling him “impregnable.” They noted his impressive pass that led to one of the goals and rated him 7 out of 10.
Currently, Spurs are in ninth place in the Europa League standings. They need to win their remaining matches to avoid a play-off round. Their upcoming games are against Rangers, Hoffenheim, and Elfsborg.
Kulusevski has been performing well this season for both his club and country. Coach Postecoglou hopes he can keep up this level of play. So far, he has scored two goals and provided seven assists in all competitions.
In their last Premier League match, Spurs won 4-0 against Manchester City. They need to keep this momentum going as they prepare to face Fulham next. The team is only three points behind rivals Arsenal and Chelsea, giving them a good chance to finish in the top four this season.
