Swansea City Aims to Capitalize on Portsmouth’s Struggles This Saturday

Cardiff: Former Wales player Iwan Roberts thinks Swansea City will benefit from Portsmouth’s tough season when they play each other on Saturday at 15:00 GMT. Swansea recently moved up to 11th place in the Championship after a 2-1 win over Derby County on Wednesday. In contrast, Portsmouth is at the bottom of the league.

Portsmouth has not played in their last two league matches against Blackburn Rovers and Millwall. Their last game was a 3-1 victory over Preston North End on November 9. Roberts believes that Swansea’s recent scoring improvements will help them in this match.

Roberts pointed out that Portsmouth is currently in 24th place and has one of the worst defensive records in the league. He mentioned that Portsmouth’s scheduled game on Wednesday was postponed because the lights at Fratton Park were not working.

While Portsmouth may be a bit fresher due to the break, they have only managed to win two games this season. Roberts noted that Swansea showed their best performance in the first half-hour against Derby. Although Swansea’s scoring has not been consistent, they have recently scored five goals in two matches.

Despite losing two of their last three games at the Swansea.com Stadium against Millwall and Leeds, Roberts is optimistic. He highlighted the impressive goals from players Zan Vipotnik and Ronald in the recent match. Based on this performance, he expects Swansea to secure a win against Portsmouth.
