Sevilla Sporting Director shuts down striker speculation but Nigeria star could leave in January
Sevilla: The club is in urgent need of a striker to help score goals. They are considering options for the January transfer window. However, they have ruled out signing Martin Braithwaite, a former Espanyol player.

Braithwaite, who currently plays for Gremio, was linked to Sevilla this week. The club’s Sporting Director, Victor Orta, was asked about Braithwaite and simply said ‘no’. The price of €6-7 million for the 33-year-old is seen as too high.

Sevilla is also looking for a replacement for Kelechi Iheanacho. The Nigerian player has not performed well since joining the team. He has only scored twice in the Copa del Rey against a lower-league team.

In his seven appearances in La Liga, Iheanacho has not made a significant impact. Reports suggest that Sevilla believes he is not meeting expectations and may consider letting him go.

Iheanacho’s contract runs until 2026, which makes it a gamble for the club. They might try to transfer him in January, but his high wages could complicate things. They hope to loan him to a Championship team in England.

Isaac Romero, another striker, has not scored yet either. However, many believe he is helping the team more than Iheanacho. He recently assisted Djibril Sow, showing he is more involved in the game.

Iheanacho is the second risky signing for Sevilla in recent summers. Last year, they also struggled to get good performances from Mariano Diaz. The club is eager to find a solution to their striker problems soon.
