RB Leipzig’s sporting director Rouven Schröder has left the club to join Red Bull Salzburg, despite Leipzig’s current league position. His new role aims to improve Salzburg’s performance.
Reports say that his decision to leave is not related to Leipzig’s recent games. The team is currently in fourth place in the Bundesliga. They are nine points behind Bayern Munich, who are in first place.
Leipzig started the season well but has not won in their last four league matches. Their most recent loss was a heavy 5-1 defeat against Wolfsburg.
Schröder is known in Germany for his ability to find new talent, especially from his time at Mainz. He has signed a contract with Salzburg that lasts until December 2028. Salzburg is also struggling, sitting in sixth place in the Austrian Bundesliga, 14 points behind the leaders, Sturm Graz.
At Salzburg, Schröder will work with Bernhard Seonbuchner, the current sporting director. Seonbuchner will soon return to the academy. Schröder expressed his commitment, saying, “I want to do everything I can together with everyone here to ensure that the trend is reversed as soon as possible.”
