RKC Waalwijk hopes to improve their season with a win against Heerenveen.
Heerenveen: RKC Waalwijk is struggling this season, having only won one match so far. They are at the bottom of the Eredivisie table with just five points from 13 games. This Friday, they will play at the Abe Lenstra Stadion in Heerenveen, hoping to secure their second win of the season. Even if they win, they will still be in the bottom two, three points behind Sparta Rotterdam, who are in the relegation playoff spot.
Heerenveen has also had a tough start to the season. They have won four out of their first 13 games and are currently in 12th place with 14 points. Their last match ended in a 3-0 loss to Feyenoord, a team that includes Robin van Persie, who is the coach of Heerenveen. Van Persie has recently made Andries Noppert the main goalkeeper, creating competition for the position with Micky van der Hart.
Despite their mixed results, Heerenveen should feel confident going into this match. They have the fourth-best home record in the league, with four wins and two draws from six games. At home, they have scored 11 goals while only allowing three. This gives them a strong advantage as they prepare to face Waalwijk.
On the other hand, RKC Waalwijk has the second-worst away record in the league. They have only earned one point from six away games, scoring six goals but conceding 19. Richard van der Venne, 32 years old, is the team’s top scorer with four goals in six matches. He recently scored and assisted in a 2-2 draw against Heracles.
Despite their difficulties, Waalwijk has shown some improvement lately. They have only lost two of their last five matches, winning two (including one in the cup against Vitesse) and drawing one. However, many believe that both Waalwijk and Almere City are likely candidates for relegation this season due to their poor performances in the Eredivisie.
