Madrid: Recently, Real Madrid held a meeting for their scouting team across Spain. This gathering aimed to discuss the academy, known as ‘La Fabrica.’ However, many scouts feel undervalued and believe this is not helping the situation.

Club president Florentino Perez praised the academy, calling it the best in the world. He highlighted how many players from Valdebebas have succeeded in Europe’s top leagues. However, the focus seems to be on creating players for other teams rather than for Real Madrid’s senior squad.

Real Madrid does nurture some of Spain’s best talents, but the scouts face tough challenges. Reports say that scouts earn about €500 a month. They often travel long distances with little reward. While the club covers some travel costs, these payments have not increased with rising fuel prices. Additionally, scouts must pay for their own vehicle maintenance.

All scouts work on one-year contracts, which means they have no job security for the following year. Beyond financial issues, there are complaints that the club often ignores their reports and suggestions. Some areas receive much less attention from the recruitment team than others.

Another point of frustration is the lack of consideration for the scouts. During their annual meeting at Valdebebas, they expected to attend a match at the Santiago Bernabeu. Instead, the club left them at the academy to watch the game on a big screen. This treatment has left many scouts feeling unappreciated and frustrated with their roles.
