Barcelona’s Raphinha shares his frustration after the team’s first home defeat under Hansi Flick.
Barcelona: On Saturday, Barcelona faced their first loss at Montjuic under manager Hansi Flick. They lost 2-1 to a strong Las Palmas team. This defeat marked their third game without a win in La Liga, leaving them with only one point from those matches. Raphinha, one of the team’s Vice-Captains, shared his disappointment with the media after the game.
Raphinha did not hold back his feelings about the loss. He emphasized the need for the team to examine their mistakes to improve their chances of winning. He mentioned that the team’s performance level has dropped, making it harder for them to compete effectively. Raphinha expressed his anger and stressed the importance of making changes before their next match.
He stated, “We have to look at what we are doing wrong to try to win the game. I think we lowered the level of what we are doing, and it is making it difficult for us during the games. We have to try to improve. We are doing many things wrong. I’m angry. We already have the next game on Tuesday, and we have to turn it around.”
Raphinha also mentioned that he was not focused on his personal achievements, saying, “I don’t care about my goal, I care about the victory.” His frustration extended to Las Palmas’ tactics, particularly their time-wasting strategies. However, he chose not to elaborate further to avoid any potential penalties.
Barcelona’s next match is against RCD Mallorca at Son Moix on Tuesday night. This game comes as La Liga enters a midweek round. Barcelona’s lead over Real Madrid could shrink to just one point, depending on the outcome of Real Madrid’s game against Getafe on Sunday afternoon.
Despite the disappointing team performance, Raphinha was surprisingly named player of the match, which raised some eyebrows. His individual effort stood out, but it was overshadowed by the overall lackluster display from the team. The players will need to regroup quickly to regain their form and confidence in the upcoming matches.
