Ruben Amorim believes Pep Guardiola’s contract extension is a challenge for all teams.
Before the international break, there was uncertainty about Guardiola’s future. His previous contract was set to end in the summer of 2025. After discussing his options with family, Guardiola had a two-hour talk with Manchester City officials and chose to stay.
Guardiola’s decision means he will be at Manchester City for ten and eleven seasons. This has led many to believe that other teams will struggle to compete for the title, especially after City won four championships in a row.
During a press conference, Amorim expressed that Guardiola’s extension is a challenge for all clubs. He stated, “I think it’s a problem for everybody, but we have so much to do we cannot focus on anybody.”
Amorim emphasized the importance of focusing on improving Manchester United rather than worrying about other teams. He added, “If you can beat that team, it’s a good sign, but we are focused on Manchester United.”
Despite concerns about Guardiola’s impact, Manchester City is currently facing difficulties. They have lost five games in a row and were leading 3-0 against Feyenoord in a UEFA Champions League match. However, they ended up conceding three goals and had to settle for a draw.
City will play against Liverpool on Sunday in the Premier League. They hope to improve their performance and avoid falling further behind in the standings. A win is crucial for them to keep pace with the league leaders.
