Pep Guardiola seeks support from Manchester City to improve the team’s performance or he will resign.
Currently, Guardiola is experiencing the toughest time in his career. City has lost five games in a row across all competitions. Recently, they also let a three-goal lead slip away, resulting in a draw against Feyenoord in the Champions League.
Injuries to key players have made things worse for Guardiola. Notably, Rodri, who won the Ballon d’Or, will be out for the rest of the season.
Since joining Manchester City in 2016, Guardiola has won 18 trophies, including six Premier League titles and the Champions League. However, he knows that past successes do not guarantee his job security if the team does not improve.
Guardiola expressed his feelings, saying, “I don’t want to stay in the place if I feel like I’m a problem.” He emphasized that he does not want to remain just because of his contract.
He has communicated with the chairman, asking for a chance to turn things around, especially when injured players return. He believes that if he cannot improve the situation, then a change is necessary.
Guardiola is aware of the challenges ahead. He stated, “Will it be easy for me now? No.” He feels he still has work to do and is determined to succeed.
Currently, Manchester City is in fourth place in the Premier League. They will face league leaders Liverpool soon, and a loss could put them 11 points behind.
Despite the team’s struggles, Guardiola remains hopeful. He admitted he is not enjoying the current situation and is not sleeping well. He misses the joy of winning games.
However, he reminded everyone that he is the same person who led the team to four consecutive Premier League titles. He believes that the current situation can change, even if some think it is the end.
Guardiola encourages everyone to keep believing. He questions why they should not have hope and why they cannot turn things around. He is focused on fighting for improvement and success.
