A legal expert believes Inter and AC Milan will not face penalties in the ultras investigation.
The investigation has been active for several months, focusing on the ultras of both clubs. Recently, some members of the Curva Nord, which supports Inter, and the Curva Sud, which backs AC Milan, have been arrested. These arrests are linked to alleged illegal activities by leaders of these groups.
While the ultras involved may face serious consequences, the situation for the clubs themselves is different. Key figures from both Inter and AC Milan have already spoken with investigators about their connections to the ultras. This includes club directors, coaches, and even some players.
Given the seriousness of the investigation, there have been rumors suggesting that certain individuals at Inter and Milan could face penalties. The possibility of player suspensions has also been mentioned, particularly concerning Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu. However, D’Onofrio is skeptical about any punishment being handed down.
He noted, “Now the papers and evidence have been delivered,” and mentioned that the Italian FA Prosecutor might request more time due to the investigation’s complexity. D’Onofrio believes that any potential consequences would likely focus on the directors of the clubs rather than the players.
He explained that for players to be suspended, there must be a continuous personal relationship with the ultras. D’Onofrio recalled that the interactions have been inappropriate but only occasional. He emphasized that the clubs themselves are victims in this situation, stating it would be a different case if they were found to be conspiring with the ultras.
