At the start of the season, the Exiles managed only one clean sheet in their first 12 League Two matches. However, as they prepare to face Wimbledon on Tuesday night, they have kept four clean sheets in their last five league games. The only team to score against Newport during this stretch was Tranmere Rovers.
After a significant reshuffle at Rodney Parade over the summer, Jardim feels that the team is now reaping the benefits of spending more time training together. He noted that the numerous changes required a lot of adjustments.
Jardim emphasized the importance of solid defense, stating, “With all of these changes, there were a lot of things we had to work on.” He believes that their improvement in defense is evident and crucial for their success.
He added, “We know that invincibility lies on the way that you defend. If you defend well, you are hard to beat, and we’re trying to do that.” The team’s commitment and effort have been key factors in their recent success on the field.
