Manchester United is watching Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap for a possible summer transfer.
So far, Delap has scored six goals and provided one assist in 13 games. His strong showing has caught the attention of several Premier League teams. United is looking to strengthen their attack for the next season.
Delap, who is 21 years old, has been praised by his former coach Pep Guardiola. Guardiola called him a “killer” and an “incredible finisher.” This praise adds to the interest from Manchester United, but it may not be easy to sign him.
Manchester City, Delap’s former club, often includes buy-back clauses in their player sales. This could make it challenging for United to secure his transfer. They may have to navigate these clauses if they want to bring him to Old Trafford.
In the meantime, United’s current striker, Rasmus Hojlund, showed his skills in a recent match against Bodo/Glimt. He scored two goals in a 3-2 victory. However, he needs to keep performing well to gain the trust of his coach, Ruben Amorim.
If Hojlund and another striker, Joshua Zirkzee, do not impress, United might pursue Delap next summer. The chance to play for a big club like United could be very appealing for Delap.
Delap has many qualities that United could use in a striker. His physical strength, ability to hold the ball, and skills in shooting and dribbling make him a valuable player. Signing him could be a significant move for United, given his potential.
Standing at 6 feet 1 inch, Delap is an explosive player with the talent to become one of the best strikers. If United’s current strikers continue to struggle, Amorim may be eager to work with Delap in the future.
