Manchester United’s recent victory is overshadowed by Lisandro Martinez’s suspension, raising concerns for their upcoming match against Arsenal and testing coach Ruben Amorim’s strategies.
Lisandro Martinez received his fifth yellow card of the season, which means he will miss the next game. This is a big blow for the team as they prepare to play against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
Martinez had been performing well and was fitting into the left center-back position in coach Ruben Amorim’s three-man defense. He has played in two of the three matches since Amorim took over, missing only one game due to injury.
Jonny Evans, who played in the match against Ipswich Town, has been sidelined for the last two games because of his own injury. This situation opens the door for Luke Shaw, who might start his first game in over nine months against Arsenal.
Shaw has been used as a substitute in all three matches under Amorim, playing around 30 minutes each time to regain his fitness. He has the skills needed to succeed in the 3-4-3 system that the coach wants to implement.
The manager aims to play from the back and maintain ball possession, and Shaw’s ability to make key passes could be crucial. Amorim has praised Shaw, who was also called ‘fabulous’ by Erik ten Hag.
Despite this, there are doubts about Shaw’s ability to play the full 90 minutes. If he starts against Arsenal, Amorim may consider substituting him after about an hour.
Tyrell Malacia could come off the bench if needed, but his skills are more suited for a wing-back role rather than a central defense position.
This upcoming match will be a significant test for Amorim as he navigates these challenges with his squad.
