Manchester United secured a convincing 4-0 win over Everton, closing in on Champions League spots. Key players shone, but one standout will miss the next match against Arsenal.
The match started slowly for United, with Everton playing better in the first half. Despite their efforts, Everton couldn’t score during the first 30 minutes.
In the 34th minute, Marcus Rashford changed the game by scoring the first goal. His shot took a big deflection off Jarrad Branthwaite, which helped it find the net.
Before halftime, Joshua Zirkzee scored another goal, giving United a 2-0 lead. Rashford and Zirkzee both added more goals in the second half, sealing the 4-0 win.
Amad Diallo was the star of the match, but Lisandro Martinez also played very well. He performed impressively in his new defensive role, making many clearances and distributing the ball effectively.
Throughout the game, Martinez had 103 touches and completed 89 out of 93 passes, achieving a passing accuracy of 96 percent. He also made five clearances and four recoveries.
However, Martinez will not be able to play against Arsenal on Wednesday. He received a yellow card in the second half, which was his fifth of the season, leading to a one-match suspension.
With Martinez out, Luke Shaw is expected to get more playing time. Shaw has been training as a left center-back since returning from injury last month.
United will also miss Kobbie Mainoo, who has also received five yellow cards. Manuel Ugarte might play alongside Casemiro in the midfield against Arsenal.
If coach Amorim decides to start Mason Mount or Alejandro Garnacho in the attack, Bruno Fernandes could take Casemiro’s place in the lineup.
