The team’s struggles have largely stemmed from the absence of Rodri, who is out for the rest of the season due to a serious knee injury he suffered in September. This injury has left a significant gap in the squad, compounded by other fitness issues affecting key players, including all four main central defenders.
Fans are eager for the club to make moves in the transfer market to bolster the midfield. However, it seems that their options are already narrowing. According to Italian newspaper Tuttosport, Torino has made it clear that they will not sell midfielder Samuele Ricci during the January window.
Manchester City had shown interest in Ricci, especially given Rodri’s long-term injury. The club was reportedly prepared to spend between €35 million and €40 million to secure his services. Despite this, Torino’s firm stance means that City may need to look elsewhere for reinforcements.
City’s sporting director, Txiki Begiristain, and his team are expected to have other potential targets in mind. Previous reports suggest that the Italian league could provide several viable options for the club. One player that has been mentioned is Atalanta’s Éderson, a Brazilian international who may attract interest from several top English clubs, including Manchester United.
On a brighter note, Manchester City is set to welcome a new addition to their squad. Argentina youth international Claudio Echeverri will join the team following the end of his loan spell at River Plate, adding some fresh talent to the squad as they navigate a challenging season.
