Mallorca climbs to fifth place in La Liga after beating Valencia

Palma: Mallorca has moved up to fifth place in La Liga after winning 2-1 against Valencia at home. This victory marks their second win in a row, something they haven’t achieved in two months. The team took advantage of a late chance to secure all three points.

In the first half, both teams struggled to create chances. However, Valencia got a break when they were awarded a penalty for handball in the 31st minute. Luis Rioja stepped up and scored confidently from the spot.

Mallorca quickly responded to the setback. Just before halftime, Cyle Larin scored his first home goal of the season, bringing the score to 1-1. His goal came at a crucial moment, lifting the team’s spirits.

The second half saw fewer chances for both sides. However, Mallorca made the most of their opportunity. Abdon Prats, who came on as a substitute, scored with a header just two minutes after entering the game.

With this win, Mallorca is now preparing for a challenging match against Barcelona next weekend. Meanwhile, Valencia faced their first away loss since late September, which will be a setback for them.
