Liverpool’s recent win raises concerns about injuries before facing Manchester City this weekend.
Thibaut Courtois, the Madrid goalkeeper, made several important saves in the first half. However, Alexis Mac Allister finally scored in the second half, giving Liverpool the lead with a well-placed shot past Courtois.
On the other side, Caoimhin Kelleher made an incredible save, stopping a penalty kick from Kylian Mbappe. Unfortunately, Mo Salah missed his own penalty shot as well. Later in the game, Cody Gakpo scored a fantastic header from an Andrew Robertson cross, securing the win for Liverpool.
Despite the positive outcome, Liverpool faced two injury worries during the match. Young right-back Conor Bradley, who played well, seemed to hurt his hamstring late in the game. He was replaced by Joe Gomez.
Another player, Ibrahima Konate, also got injured during the match. Although he finished the game and played very well, he left the field in pain.
Arne Slot, the coach, spoke about the injuries before the upcoming match against Manchester City. He mentioned that both players would need further assessment to understand the extent of their injuries.
Slot expressed concern, saying, “It’s difficult to see where they are in terms of the injury.” He added that it’s not a good sign when players have to leave the game early.
He noted that Conor had to be taken off, and Ibrahima did not leave the pitch as he normally would after a great performance.
This news is a setback for Liverpool, especially concerning Konate, who has been a key defender this season. He has formed a strong partnership with Virgil van Dijk at the back.
Even with these injury issues, Liverpool is still seen as the favorite for the upcoming match. Their current form is strong, while Manchester City has struggled recently, failing to win any matches in November.
City has lost four games and drawn one across all competitions. A win against Liverpool could be just what they need to turn their luck around.
