Liverpool is doing well this season but has contract issues with Trent Alexander-Arnold.
While everything seems positive on the field, there are some problems off the pitch that need attention. One major concern is the contract situation of Trent Alexander-Arnold. His current deal runs out in June 2025, but the club has not yet reached an agreement for a new contract.
James Pearce from The Athletic reports that Liverpool is working to secure a new deal for Alexander-Arnold. However, as of now, no agreement has been made. The 26-year-old right-back could leave the club next year, especially with Real Madrid showing interest in him.
Starting in January, Alexander-Arnold can sign a pre-contract with teams outside of England. This means Liverpool must act quickly to resolve the contract issue. He has been an important player for the team, having come through the academy and made 325 appearances, contributing 83 assists.
He played a key role in Liverpool’s success, helping the team win the Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League in 2020. Alexander-Arnold has expressed his desire to win the Ballon d’Or, making a move to Madrid very attractive for him.
Despite this, Liverpool still has a chance to keep him by offering a better contract. The club needs to show him that they value his contributions and want him to stay for the long term.
