Leeds United’s Jayden Bogle is under fire for a costly mistake in the recent match against Blackburn Rovers, impacting the team’s position in the Championship standings.
The defeat was disappointing for Leeds, as they missed the chance to climb back to the top of the Championship table. The only goal of the match came from a penalty taken by Todd Cantwell in the 22nd minute. This penalty was awarded after Ao Tanaka fouled Tyrhys Dolan.
Just minutes after the penalty, Bogle found himself in trouble again. He lost the ball to Dolan and then fouled him, which earned him a yellow card. This situation could have made things worse for Leeds, but the resulting free-kick went just over the bar.
Bogle’s performance has been criticized several times this season by Dorigo, who was a successful full-back in his playing days. Dorigo did not hold back in his comments about Bogle’s indecisiveness on the field.
He expressed his disappointment on LUTV, saying, “Really poor mistake. Just get there, deal with it quickly but Bogle takes way too many touches, way too long.” Dorigo emphasized that once a player makes a mistake, they should not make it worse by getting booked.
Following this loss, Leeds United is now in third place in the Championship, three points behind Sheffield United, who are at the top. They are also one point behind Burnley, who hold the last automatic promotion spot.
Leeds will look to bounce back in their next matches, which are home games against Derby County and Middlesbrough. After these matches, they will travel to face Preston North End.
