Lazio’s unbeaten streak in the Europa League continues after a frustrating draw with Ludogorets
Rome: Lazio faced Ludogorets in a Europa League match that ended without any goals. Despite having chances, Lazio could not find the back of the net. Matteo Guendouzi came close, hitting the crossbar, and the team felt they deserved a penalty that was not given.
Lazio had won all their previous games in the tournament and were at the top of the group. However, they were missing key players like Nuno Tavares and Gaetano Castrovilli. Some players were not fully fit, so Tijjani Noslin started as a center-forward after serving a ban. Ludogorets, on the other hand, had only one point and were missing two players due to suspensions.
In the first half, Noslin struggled to control a pass from Loum Tchaouna. Pedro had a chance but could not score as the goalkeeper was quick to react. Boulaye Dia also tried to score but was denied by a close save from the Ludogorets goalkeeper, Hendrik Bonmann.
At halftime, Lazio’s coach Marco Baroni made three substitutions, hoping to change the game. However, the team still struggled to create clear chances. Pedro took a shot from outside the box, but it went straight to the goalkeeper.
Manuel Lazzari had a couple of attempts but could not find the target. The most controversial moment came in the 72nd minute when Gustav Isaksen was brought down in the penalty area. The referee did not award a penalty, and even after checking the VAR, he stood by his decision, which surprised many.
In the final minutes, Guendouzi almost won the game for Lazio with a powerful shot that hit the crossbar. The match ended in a frustrating draw for Lazio, who felt they could have done better.
