Las Palmas defeated Barcelona 2-1, marking Hansi Flick’s first home loss as coach.
A worrying moment occurred when Alejandro Balde had trouble breathing after a challenge from Sandro Ramirez. He had to be taken off the field on a stretcher. After this pause, Barcelona almost took the lead, but Jasper Cillessen saved Pedri’s shot, and Raphinha hit the bar.
In the second half, Las Palmas struck first. Just five minutes in, they executed a great counter-attack. Scott McKenna passed to Javi Munoz, who set up Kirian Rodriguez. He then found Sandro, who scored by shooting low past Inaki Pena.
Hansi Flick made five changes by the hour mark, hoping for a comeback. Raphinha managed to score with a powerful shot into the corner, bringing the score to 1-1. However, just five minutes later, Fabio Silva scored again for Las Palmas. He got behind the Barcelona defense and finished neatly into the corner.
The final score was Barcelona 1, Las Palmas 2. This was a surprising result, marking Hansi Flick’s first home defeat. Despite Barcelona’s efforts in the last 20 minutes, they couldn’t find another goal.
Sandro and Fabio Silva were effective for Las Palmas, while Raphinha’s goal was not enough. Barcelona tried to increase their pressure, but aside from a free-kick from Raphinha that Cillessen saved, they struggled to create chances. A late penalty appeal for Pau Victor was ignored by the referee and VAR.
Barcelona now faces challenges, having not won in three Liga games, with only one point from those matches. Real Madrid could overtake them if they win their two games in hand, as they are currently four points behind. Meanwhile, Las Palmas has won four of their last six Liga matches under coach Diego Martinez. His record against Barcelona remains strong, having previously drawn with Xavi Hernandez and now defeating Flick. Las Palmas moves up to 15 points, sitting in 14th place, with a five-point cushion above the relegation zone.
