Kylian Mbappé’s start at Real Madrid has been rocky, with mixed performances and criticism despite a recent win. Fans hope for his return to form as he adjusts to his new team.
The 25-year-old player, who signed a contract until 2029, has had a tough beginning in Madrid. His difficulties were clear during Real Madrid’s 2-0 defeat against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League group stage.
Mbappé’s first El Clásico match on October 26 was especially hard, as Real Madrid lost 4-0 to Barcelona at their home ground. Just a few days later, they faced another setback, losing 3-1 to AC Milan in the Champions League.
Recently, with Vinicius injured, Mbappé had a chance to shine against Liverpool. However, the match turned out to be disappointing for the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner.
This past weekend, he did score in a game against Getafe, but he has not yet made a significant impact in crucial matches. Despite this goal, ESPN FC analyst Ale Moreno pointed out that Mbappé’s performance was not up to par.
Moreno noted, “Kylian Mbappé has a lot more to offer this team, and you can feel the fans at Santiago Bernabéu are eager to support him.” He added, “When he scores, the crowd goes wild, thinking this is the moment for his confidence to grow.”
Moreno continued, “They hope to see the best version of Kylian Mbappé. He played well, was a threat near the goal, created chances, and scored. But when we think about Kylian Mbappé’s usual standards, they are much higher.
“We expect greatness from him, and we want to see him in situations where he can shine, where he can break free and deliver. That just wasn’t the case today. However, the important thing is that Real Madrid did what they needed to do—they secured the win on Sunday.”
