Kevin De Bruyne has three choices for his future with Manchester City next season.
De Bruyne recently returned to training and playing after being out for months due to a groin issue and nerve pain. He mentioned in a press conference that if no talks happen, this could be his last year with the team. He wants to focus on playing well and is unsure about what lies ahead.
Despite the uncertainty, De Bruyne’s options for next summer, when his contract ends, are clear. According to Ornstein, he can either extend his contract with Manchester City for another year, move to Saudi Arabia, or join a team in Major League Soccer.
If he decides to stay at Manchester City, Ornstein notes that the club is open to extending his contract. De Bruyne would just need to let them know his plans, and reaching an agreement should be easy.
There have also been talks about a possible move to the United States, with some discussions already taking place with MLS teams. However, these talks are mainly through the league itself rather than specific clubs.
On the other hand, Manchester City is preparing for the future. Club officials are reportedly looking for a suitable replacement for De Bruyne, who has been a key player for them over the past decade.
Recent reports suggest that City is interested in German players Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen and Jamal Musiala from Bayern Munich. Both players are also being watched by other top clubs in Europe.
If Manchester City wants to pursue either Wirtz or Musiala, they would likely need to pay over £100 million, which would set a new record for the club. This shows how serious they are about finding a replacement for De Bruyne as they plan for the future.
