Thiago Motta reflects on Juventus’ performance against Lecce, highlighting injuries and missed opportunities, while expressing concern for a player who collapsed during another match.
Motta noted that this day was unusual for Italian football. Earlier, a match between Fiorentina and Inter was canceled after a player, Edoardo Bove, collapsed and had to be taken to the hospital. Motta expressed his concern for Bove and his family, hoping for a quick recovery.
Juventus faced many injuries and couldn’t rotate players after their recent Champions League match. Despite this, they managed to score first with a deflected shot from Andrea Cambiaso. They had also hit the post twice before taking the lead.
As the game progressed, Juventus found themselves under pressure. In the final moments, they allowed a goal from Ante Rebic, which led to the draw. Motta acknowledged that the team was running out of energy in the second half.
He mentioned that while they played well initially, they needed to learn from their mistakes and prepare for future matches. Motta pointed out that small errors often lead to goals, and they could have avoided conceding so late in the game.
With key players injured, Juventus has been trying different players in the striker position. Motta discussed Kenan Yildiz, who has not played as a center-forward yet. He believes Yildiz can play there but prefers him to create chances from the wings.
Motta explained that Yildiz has the ability to adapt but felt it was better to use him in a different role for this match. He noted that Yildiz improved in the second half after some adjustments.
This draw marks Juventus’ third consecutive tie in all competitions. They are now six points behind Napoli in the Serie A standings. Although they remain unbeaten this season, they have drawn eight out of fourteen matches, which is a concern for the team.
