Inter Milan is looking to sign young defender Nicolo Bertola from Spezia.
Bertola, who is 21 years old, has played very well this season. His current contract with Spezia ends next June, which gives Inter a chance to sign him without paying a fee. If they do sign him, they might loan him back to Spezia or another team to help him gain more experience.
Inter Milan had previously tried to sign another young defender, Giovanni Leoni, during the summer. They spent weeks negotiating with Sampdoria, but in the end, Parma signed Leoni instead. Inter did not want to spend too much money on him.
Instead, they brought in Tomas Palacios from Argentina. Even though they missed out on Leoni, Inter is still interested in young defenders. Their approach to Bertola is clear; they are not willing to spend a lot, but if he is available for free, they will consider it.
Currently, Inter’s main focus is finding a long-term replacement for their older defenders, Stefan de Vrij and Francesco Acerbi. They want someone young but with some experience. For this important role, they are ready to invest in the right player.
