Inter Milan is a top team in Serie A and Champions League

Berlin: Lothar Matthaus, a former midfielder, believes Inter Milan is a strong team in both Serie A and the Champions League. He shared his thoughts with a Milan newspaper, praising the team’s performance and the role of midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu.

Matthaus knows what it takes to be part of a great Inter team, having played there from 1988 to 1992. During his time, he helped the team win the Serie A title and was a key player in the midfield.

Currently, Inter Milan has another impressive squad. They won the Serie A title last season and are looking to defend it while also aiming for success in Europe. Matthaus highlighted the mix of experienced players and young talents in the team, along with a coach who has found the right strategy.

He stated that Inter is a top team in all positions, not just in Italy but also in Europe. Matthaus expressed satisfaction with the team’s progress, noting that their success has been building over time. He believes Inter can advance far in the Champions League without needing playoffs and can win the Serie A title again, despite a more competitive race this season.

Matthaus also mentioned that Inter’s upcoming match against Bayer Leverkusen will be tougher than their previous game against RB Leipzig. He pointed out that Leipzig is struggling in the Bundesliga, while Leverkusen poses a greater threat and could challenge Bayern for the title.

In addition to praising the team, Matthaus spoke highly of Hakan Calhanoglu, calling him a key player for Inter. He noted that before joining Inter, Calhanoglu was not as impactful, but he has found the right environment to thrive. The connection with the coach and teammates has been crucial for his success.

Matthaus compared Calhanoglu’s situation to his own experience at Inter, where he felt trusted by his teammates. He also acknowledged the role of coach Simone Inzaghi in helping Calhanoglu reach his potential. Inzaghi has positioned him well and encouraged the team to prioritize passing to him.

Lastly, Matthaus mentioned defender Yann Bisseck, who may not be in the spotlight yet, but is gaining recognition. He believes Bisseck will have more opportunities to play and could catch the attention of national team coach Julian Nagelsmann in the future.
