Inter Milan is considering defender Nicolo Bertola, but he is not their main focus.
Bertola, who is 21 years old, has had a great start to the season. He plays a vital role in Spezia’s defense, helping the team compete for a chance to move up to Serie A. Currently, Spezia is in second place in the Serie B standings, just one point behind the leaders, Sassuolo.
Bertola’s contributions have been significant in this success. Unfortunately for Spezia, his contract will end next June. The team is trying to persuade him to sign a new contract. They are offering a deal that would increase his salary to €350,000 per year. If the team gets promoted to Serie A, his salary could rise to €550,000 plus bonuses.
According to Tuttosport, Bertola has not yet given a response to Spezia’s offer. The team may have to wait until the end of December for his decision. Meanwhile, Inter is keeping an eye on Bertola. They want to build a strong team with young players, especially in defense.
Inter’s Assistant Sporting Director, Dario Baccin, has been discussing Bertola’s situation with Spezia’s Sporting Director, Stefano Melissano. Inter might consider signing Bertola and then loaning him back to Spezia for the next season.
Despite their interest, Tuttosport reports that Bertola is not a top target for Inter at this time. Other teams, like Torino and Bologna, are also interested in the young defender.
