Berlin: Fiorentina’s wingback Robin Gosens believes that his former team, Inter Milan, is the strongest contender in the Serie A title race. He shared his thoughts during an interview with TNT Sports.

Gosens is set to face Inter this evening, a team he played for over a season and a half. He joined Inter from Atalanta in January 2022, hoping to make a significant impact.

Despite being a standout player at Atalanta, Gosens struggled to find his place at Inter. Initially, he was a backup to Ivan Perisic, and in his first full season, he faced tough competition from Federico Dimarco.

In the summer of 2023, Gosens moved to Union Berlin, but the transition did not go well. The team had a rough season, and he found it hard to regain his form.

However, this summer, the 30-year-old returned to Serie A, joining Fiorentina. He has been performing well, reminiscent of his days at Atalanta, while Fiorentina is currently competing at the top of the table alongside Inter.

Gosens described the upcoming match as a great opportunity to assess both teams’ strengths. He emphasized that Inter is the most complete team in Serie A, having played together for a long time under the same coach.

He acknowledged that Inter has added a few high-quality players, making them the favorites for the title. Gosens, who has played with many of the current Inter players, knows their capabilities well.

Reflecting on his time at Inter, Gosens stated that he views it positively, despite some people believing otherwise. He admitted that he wished he had played more but understood that sometimes things don’t go as planned in football.

He noted that no one expected Dimarco to have such a successful season, which contributed to his limited playing time. Gosens aimed to make a difference during his time at Inter, especially after the club invested significantly in him.

Looking back, he feels proud of his experiences, having played alongside top players and winning trophies, including reaching the Champions League final. He fondly remembers the San Siro as his home for a year and a half, calling it one of the most beautiful stadiums in the world.

While he would have liked more playing time, Gosens is grateful for the opportunity to have been part of such a fantastic team.
