Ghisolfi slams Serie A refereeing: ‘Seven confirmed errors’ against Roma
Rome: Roma’s sporting director, Florent Ghisolfi, has openly criticized the refereeing in Serie A. In an interview with Il Corriere dello Sport, he pointed out seven clear mistakes made against Roma this season.

Ghisolfi mentioned that the club usually avoids discussing refereeing issues publicly. However, after noticing seven errors in just 13 matches, he felt it was important to speak out.

He emphasized the need for respect towards Roma from referees and the officiating body. Ghisolfi also called for improvements in the refereeing rules in Serie A.

“Roma have faced seven confirmed errors, acknowledged by major newspapers and TV replays,” Ghisolfi stated. He added that the club has tried not to exaggerate the situation or make excuses during tough times.

The latest incident he referred to happened during a recent 1-0 loss to Napoli. In that match, Romelu Lukaku avoided two yellow cards and a possible red card. As a result, referee Davide Massa received a one-match suspension.

Ghisolfi expressed concern about the number of points lost due to these errors. He noted that in none of the seven incidents did the referees use video assistance for confirmation. If VAR had been used, the outcomes might have been very different.

He shared his hopes for better refereeing standards in Serie A. “We can no longer accept these kinds of mistakes. We ask for respect from referees and the governing bodies, especially when technology can help fix errors,” he said.

Ghisolfi wants the game to be played fairly and believes that the rules should be updated to eliminate subjectivity in officiating. He stressed the importance of having clear and reliable protocols in place.
