Frank Lampard is considering bringing in Chelsea players on loan to help Coventry City.
He has a little over a month to assess his team before the January transfer window opens. Lampard is likely looking at players he can bring in on loan to strengthen his squad.
Previously, while at Derby County, Lampard successfully brought in Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori on loan. Both players developed well and returned to Chelsea as key players.
Fans of Chelsea might hope for a similar situation now that Lampard is back in the Championship. There are several young players from Chelsea who could be good options for him.
During his first press conference at Coventry, Lampard hinted at his plans for January. When asked about Chelsea players, he acknowledged the interest but noted that it’s not straightforward.
He mentioned that while he has had good experiences with Chelsea’s young players, each situation is different. Lampard explained what he expects from any loan players who join Coventry.
He stated that any new player must positively impact the team. Lampard also mentioned that they have already discussed potential January moves, but it’s not his main focus right now.
He feels the current squad has enough quality to work with for the time being. When January arrives, they will have more discussions about possible signings.
Lampard even joked about the possibility of signing Joao Felix, who has not been getting much playing time in the Premier League this season.
After Lampard’s appointment, a report highlighted five realistic transfer targets for him. Players like Harvey Vale, Alex Matos, and Deivid Washington are likely on his radar.
With Coventry currently in 17th place in the Championship, Lampard knows he needs all the help he can get. His goal is to improve their position and aim for a playoff spot again.
