Phil Foden shares his thoughts on the intense rivalry with Liverpool and the challenges ahead as Manchester City prepares for their upcoming match at Anfield this weekend.
In a recent interview, Foden, who is 24 years old, talked about his experiences playing under coach Pep Guardiola. He also reflected on his journey with Manchester City and the fierce rivalry with Liverpool, who they will face at Anfield on Sunday.
Foden mentioned that the matches against Liverpool have shown the highest level of football he has witnessed in the league. He expressed his excitement, saying, “These are the games you live for.”
When asked about the toughest opponent he has faced, Foden found it hard to name just one player. However, he pointed out that Liverpool, especially when they had players like Sadio Mané, Mohamed Salah, and Roberto Firmino, was a formidable team.
He noted, “The way they pressed was tough. Over time, Liverpool has been our biggest challenge.” Foden also complimented the current Liverpool team under coach Arne Slot, saying they look very strong.
He added that Liverpool has been somewhat overlooked lately, with more focus on City and Arsenal. However, he knows how good Liverpool is and is ready for the challenge ahead.
Liverpool has been on a winning streak, with 14 wins and one draw in their last 15 matches. In contrast, Manchester City has struggled recently, with five losses and a draw in their last six games.
Despite this, Foden remains optimistic. He believes the team’s hunger to win is still strong and is confident they will turn things around soon. “It’s about just getting over it. I’m sure we’ll be okay once we start getting results again,” he said.
The match between Liverpool and Manchester City is set to kick off at 4 PM on Sunday, December 1.
