Brooke Aspin, a young defender on loan at Crystal Palace, has suffered a serious knee injury while playing for England Under-23s, sidelining her for the rest of the season.
Aspin was playing well until she had to leave the game in the first half. Teyah Goldie took her place, and the match ended in a 0-0 draw.
After the game, the medical team checked Aspin’s injury. They found out that she has torn her Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL). This type of injury is serious and will require a long recovery time.
Aspin will start her rehabilitation soon and will not play again until next season. Because of this injury, her loan at Crystal Palace will end early. She will return to Chelsea, her parent club, for her recovery.
Before her injury, Aspin played six matches for Crystal Palace. Her last game was a victory against Charlton Athletic, where her team won 2-0 in the Women’s League Cup.
Aspin joined Chelsea from Bristol City in the summer of 2023 but has not yet played for them. Her current focus will be on getting better and returning to the field.
