Antonio Conte emphasizes the need for Napoli to strengthen their squad for next season to compete effectively in both domestic and European competitions.
Currently, Napoli is leading Serie A with a four-point advantage over Fiorentina and Inter. However, Atalanta is also close behind and could reduce the gap if they win their upcoming match against Roma.
Conte celebrated a recent 1-0 victory against Torino, highlighting the importance of having a strong squad. He noted that while the title race is still open, the team must prepare for European competitions.
In a press conference after the match, Conte mentioned that this was their 14th game of the season. He pointed out that other teams have strengthened their squads, especially with European matches in mind. He stressed that if Napoli qualifies for Europe, they will need to add more players.
Conte explained that the current squad has 21 outfield players. He believes they have performed well for a team only competing in the league and Coppa Italia. He wants the president to understand the need for reinforcements.
Despite the pressure, Conte is pleased with how the team is handling the situation. He sees growth in the group and believes they are improving together. He mentioned that he asked the players to be more aggressive in their attacks, and they succeeded in doing so.
Scott McTominay scored the winning goal against Torino, marking their second straight 1-0 victory. This win also brought Napoli their ninth clean sheet in 14 Serie A matches, showing their strong defensive performance.
