Como and Monza shared points in a tense match, keeping both teams in trouble.
The game was a real battle, with Como missing some key players. Alberto Dossena was suspended, and others were injured. Monza also faced challenges, having only one win this season. They recently drew 1-1 against Torino, but their form has not been strong.
In the early minutes, Alieu Fadera almost scored for Como, shooting just wide. Monza’s Giorgos Kyriakopoulos tested Como’s goalkeeper, Pepe Reina, but could not find the net. Nico Paz missed a good chance with a free header from a corner.
Monza had a chance to score from a set piece, but Luca Caldirola’s header went straight to Reina. Como then took the lead from a corner kick. Gabriel Strefezza’s corner led to a diving header from Edoardo Goldaniga, which deflected and set up Yannik Engelhardt to score.
Strefezza nearly made it 2-0 just before halftime, but Alessandro Bianco blocked his shot. After the break, a free kick led to a penalty for Monza. VAR reviewed the play and decided that Nico Paz handled the ball. Gianluca Caprari scored the penalty, leveling the match.
Como’s Patrick Cutrone missed a chance after a mistake from Monza’s Warren Bondo. Nico Paz had another chance but his header was blocked. In stoppage time, Monza almost won the game. Daniel Maldini made a great play to set up Milan Djuric, but he hit the post.
The match ended with a final chance for Monza. Simone Verdi crossed the ball, and Andrea Belotti almost scored with a header, but it went just past the goal. The game finished 1-1, leaving both teams still in the relegation zone.
