Celtic may not pursue Christian Eriksen due to his high salary demands.
Amorim recently watched his team come back to win a Europa League match against Bodo/Glimt. This victory at Old Trafford gives him a better idea of his players’ strengths and weaknesses. As he observes more games, he will determine which players might be sold in the new year.
One player who was likely to leave regardless of the new management is Christian Eriksen. There were hopes that Celtic might sign him, but those plans seem unlikely now. Reports suggest that Eriksen’s high wages are a major issue for Celtic.
Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke mentioned that Celtic is not interested in Eriksen due to his salary of £150,000 per week. This amount is seen as too high for the Scottish club. They may also be concerned about what Eriksen would expect in terms of pay if he were to join them.
From Manchester United’s perspective, if no clubs show interest in Eriksen during the January window, they might let his contract run out. His current deal ends next June, and the club could allow him to leave for free next summer. This would be a way to avoid paying him for another season if he is not part of their plans.
