Brighton struggled to secure a win against Southampton, ending the match in a draw.
Brighton started strong, with Kaoru Mitoma and Georginio Rutter both trying to score early. However, they missed key opportunities, including a close shot from Rutter that hit the post. Brighton finally took the lead in the 29th minute when Mitoma scored with a diving header.
Despite being ahead, Brighton faced challenges. Southampton had lost all their previous matches after going behind, but they managed to equalize in the 59th minute. Flynn Downes scored his first Premier League goal with a powerful shot from inside the box.
Downes had a rough game, committing several fouls and receiving a yellow card. He was substituted shortly after scoring. Southampton almost took the lead later, but a goal by Archer was disallowed due to an offside call.
Brighton pushed hard for a late winner during the 10 minutes of added time but could not find the net. The match ended in a draw, leaving Brighton slightly ahead of Arsenal and Chelsea in the standings. Southampton, however, remained at the bottom of the table, struggling to find their form.
