Barcelona: FIFA has shared its report on the joint bid from Spain, Morocco, and Portugal to host the 2030 World Cup. This report highlights the competition between various stadiums for the event.

One of the key points is that Barcelona’s Spotify Camp Nou is in the running to host both the opening match and the final. It is competing with the Santiago Bernabeu and the Hassan II Stadium in Casablanca.

FIFA looked at a list of around 20 stadiums for this bid. This list includes 11 stadiums from Spain, six from Morocco, and three from Portugal. The review aimed to find the best venues for the World Cup.

Spotify Camp Nou received a score of 4.2 out of 5, which is the same as the other two stadiums. This score means it meets the requirements to be chosen at the FIFA Congress on December 11.

The famous Barcelona stadium is currently being rebuilt. Once finished, it will hold 103,447 fans, which is more than the minimum requirement of 80,000.

This bid is the only one officially submitted for the 2030 World Cup. It features high-quality stadiums across 17 cities. The proposal includes a mix of iconic and modern venues from some of the world’s top clubs.

As it stands, the joint bid from Spain, Portugal, and Morocco is the only candidate for the World Cup in less than six years.

Currently, Spotify Camp Nou is still under construction. It is expected to partially reopen in early 2025, allowing Barcelona to return to their historic home.

The full reopening of the stadium is planned for 2026. As it stands, it remains a strong contender to host the FIFA World Cup finals in under six years.
