Barcelona’s record in anniversary matches has not been favorable. For instance, during the 50th anniversary in 1949, they played against Espanyol and lost 1-2, which dampened the festive atmosphere.
Looking back even further, during the 25th anniversary in 1924, Barcelona faced Terrassa in the Campionat de Catalunya. That match ended in a 0-1 defeat, marking another disappointing result after a celebration.
Interestingly, the only time Barcelona broke this trend was during their 75th anniversary. On that occasion, they managed to create a positive memory for their fans. Unfortunately, the recent 125th anniversary has followed the same pattern, adding another loss to this unusual history.
Despite the defeat, these anniversaries highlight Barcelona’s rich history and legacy in football. However, it is evident that their celebratory matches often leave fans wishing for better outcomes on the field.
