Arsenal’s young player Myles Lewis-Skelly has suffered another injury, as confirmed by coach Mikel Arteta. This adds to the team’s ongoing injury challenges this season.
The team has faced several injury issues with their full-backs. However, things seemed to improve recently, especially at left-back. Players like Riccardo Calafiori, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Kieran Tierney had returned to fitness and were ready for the match against West Ham United.
Unfortunately, Myles Lewis-Skelly was not among those players. After the game, Arteta confirmed that Lewis-Skelly is now on the list of injured players. This is disappointing news for the team.
Arteta mentioned, “We had an issue with Gabi [Magalhaes], we have an issue with Ricky [Calafiori] as well, yesterday we lost Thomas [Partey], Mikel [Merino], and Myles [Lewis-Skelly], which was very bad news.”
The injuries to Partey, Merino, and Lewis-Skelly happened during the final training session before the match. Lewis-Skelly had already been dealing with an injury before this incident.
The 18-year-old missed the previous match against Nottingham Forest due to injury. He only returned to the bench for the midweek game against Sporting CP.
It is still unclear if Lewis-Skelly’s new injury is a repeat of his previous one or if it is a different issue. Regardless, he will want to recover quickly, as Arsenal has an important match against Manchester United on Wednesday.
Additionally, the Arsenal academy team is set to play in the FA Youth Cup on Tuesday. If Lewis-Skelly is fit and available, he can still participate in that competition unless the first team needs him.
