Arsenal is actively seeking a new sporting director after Edu Gaspar’s exit, with potential candidates including Roberto Olabe and Simon Rolfes, as PSG shifts its focus on player recruitment.
Campos has been with PSG for three years. During this time, he has helped the club sign young talents like Vitinha, Bradley Barcola, and João Neves. Before his time in Paris, Campos had success with AS Monaco and LOSC Lille.
Meanwhile, Arsenal is on the lookout for a new sporting director. This comes after Edu Gaspar left his position in early November. Reports suggest that intermediaries have recommended several candidates, including Simon Rolfes from Germany, who is well-respected in the field.
Another strong candidate is Roberto Olabe, who is leaving his role at Real Sociedad. There are also rumors that Campos could be a target for Arsenal. Recently, it was reported that Arsenal has reached out to Campos about taking over from Edu.
According to Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Olabe is a serious contender to replace Edu at Arsenal. He previously signed Alexander Isak for Real Sociedad, and they have maintained a good relationship since then.
Isak, now 25 and playing for Newcastle, is also on Arsenal’s radar for the summer transfer window. His contract with Newcastle runs until 2028. It remains to be seen if Arsenal will pursue Campos further or if they will focus on Olabe instead.
Olabe is indeed one of the main candidates for the role at Arsenal, as reported in a recent transfer update. His past connection with Isak could play a role in Arsenal’s future plans, especially if they decide to target the striker again.
