Garcia Plaza had recently signed a two-year contract with the club, and many praised his efforts last season, where he helped the team finish mid-table. However, after a disappointing 1-1 draw against Real Valladolid, the club decided it was time for a change.
He was the longest-serving manager for Alaves in 21 years, taking over 102 matches since Mane’s departure in 2003. Under his leadership, the team won 44 games, drew 28, and lost 36, averaging 1.48 points per match.
Taking over is Eduardo ‘Chacho’ Coudet, who previously managed Celta Vigo. Coudet had a successful start in Galicia but struggled to maintain results, leading to his dismissal after two years. Since then, he has coached Atletico Mineiro and Internacional in Brazil, gaining valuable experience.
Coudet is known for his attacking style and ambitious tactics, often using one holding midfielder and two forwards. In contrast, Alaves has been more focused on counter-attacking under Garcia Plaza. Fans are eager to see how the team will adapt to this new coaching approach when they face Osasuna this weekend.
